My Mum

My Mum has always been there for her family and others. A selfless person who did as much as she could for family and friends. She had a long life well lived although the passed 5 years without her beloved Bernard, my Dad, has been difficult for her.
I have so many fond memories of her. Encouragement for me and my siblings to be well educated and pursue hobbies be it sports or otherwise. She extended that to her grandchildren always proud of their achievements.
Working hard was a trait passed to us. Running the home, balancing budgets, cooking amazing, tasty meals, and finding time to listen and encourage.
In middle life when her children had left home, she with Dad were able to travel visiting many of the mainland European countries. For the Sun and people Portugal was a favourite. Whilst Italy, Switzerland for the lakes and mountains. There were many visits to Holland to visit gardens and purchase plants. She spent weeks in the USA getting to know Brian and his family.
Her joy of gardening was there for all to see. Few visitors went home without taking a picture of the well-stocked and very colourful back garden; and yes knew where every pant was, its name and how to best treat if to maximise flowering.
Since the passing of Dad compounded by her loss of sight her garden was a shadow of its former self but even so, due to many years of good treatment still better than most of us will ever achieve.
I helped her with a daily call to make sure she was coping well and to put in those orders to Wiltshire Farm Foods, Sainsburys and Amazon for anything she might need. Towards the last Months we discussed more about the passed years and what we had done well and not so well. Mum was always right.
Her last words the day before she passed were more about none of us to worry as she loved us all and was going to meet my Dad.
That was Mum selfless to the end.
Ill really miss my Mum.
